This policy explains what happens to information collected when you use this website. It is written to be read rather than to be skipped, so it is short.
What is collected
Server logs. Like any website, ours records technical information when a page is requested: an IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and the browser identification string sent by your software. This is used to deliver pages, to keep the site available and to investigate abuse.
Messages you send. If you email the desk, we hold your message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it and to keep a record of corrections. We do not add correspondents to any mailing list.
Information you enter in a form. Where the site offers a form, it collects only the fields shown in it, and the form states at the point of collection what the information is for. If you do not complete a form, nothing from it is stored.
We do not ask for financial details, we never request passwords or account credentials, and we have no reason to hold identity documents.
Cookies and measurement
The site is built as static pages and does not require cookies to function. Where an audience measurement or advertising technology is added, this page will be updated to name it before it is used, along with the purpose and the way to refuse it. Your browser also gives you direct control: site data can be blocked or cleared in its settings.
Who else is involved
Pages are served by a hosting provider, which processes the technical data described above on our behalf. Where a form submits information to a partner platform, that platform acts as a separate controller of what you send it, and its own policy governs that processing.
External links in our content lead to sites we do not control, including public registers. Their operators decide what they collect from you.
Retention
Server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security and reliability, and then discarded. Correspondence is kept while the matter is open and afterwards only as a record of published corrections.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to how it is used, and to receive a copy. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
To exercise any of these, write to [email protected] and describe what you want. We reply to every request, and we do not require a reason for a deletion request.
Children
The site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of eighteen.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version appears here with a new modification date. Material changes to what we collect will be described in plain language rather than announced by a version number alone.
