Coinalytics Lab is a small independent desk that reads financial advertising the way an auditor reads an invoice. When a platform publishes a number, we ask which inputs produced it, whether those inputs are available, and what the figure becomes once the costs of trading are subtracted from it.
The site started from a simple observation. Most writing about these platforms argues about whether they are trustworthy, which is a question of opinion, while almost nobody works through whether the advertised figures are arithmetically possible, which is a question with an answer. We decided to do only the second thing.
Who writes here
The desk has three people, and every analysis carries the name of the person who did the work.
Marguerite Ilsley leads the arithmetic desk and sets the rule the site runs on: a number gets rebuilt from its inputs before it is repeated anywhere on this domain.
Hendrik Vasseur edits the costs and withdrawals coverage. He is responsible for the part of every analysis that deals with getting money back out, which is the part readers eventually care about most.
Ottilie Brandwein runs the public records work. The unverified list on each page is hers, and she writes it before the verdict is drafted so that the verdict has to fit the evidence rather than the other way around.
None of us holds positions in anything we write about, and none of us takes trading questions from readers.
What we do not do
We do not forecast prices. We do not publish signals, entry points or portfolio suggestions. We do not rate platforms out of five, because we collect no reviews and any score would be decoration. We do not quote testimonials, because a testimonial attached to an anonymous brand cannot be authenticated and passing one along would make us part of the promotion.
We also do not fill gaps. If a licence number, a registered office or a fee schedule cannot be found in a public source, the analysis says that it could not be found. That is less satisfying than a confident paragraph, and it is the only version we are willing to publish.
