Trust in a site like this one should be conditional and evidence based, exactly like the verdicts it publishes. So this page states the commercial position openly and then describes what stops it from affecting the writing.
How the site earns money
Some outbound links on this site are commercial, and a click through them can generate a commission. That is disclosed on every analysis page, next to the verdict rather than in the footer, because a disclosure nobody reaches is not a disclosure.
This is a genuine conflict of interest. A site paid per click has an incentive to be encouraging. Saying otherwise would be the first dishonest sentence on the page.
What we do about it
Four rules, all of them checkable against the published analyses:
The verdict is set before the commercial status is known. The status and the unverified list are drafted from the records work, and nobody on the desk consults a commercial arrangement while writing either.
Payment never removes a finding. If a supervisory notice exists, it is cited. No commercial relationship has ever caused a point to be removed from an analysis, and if one is ever requested, we will publish the request.
We cannot be paid for a score, because there are no scores. There is no rating out of five and no editor's choice. The only verdict values are unverified, no red flags found, high risk and avoid, and three of the four are unhelpful to any advertiser.
Absence of evidence stays absence of evidence. We do not upgrade a missing register entry into an accusation, and we do not downgrade one into reassurance. The published wording on most of our pages is deliberately unexciting in both directions.
What we are not
We are not a regulator, an ombudsman or a recovery service. We cannot get anyone's money back, we cannot intervene with a platform on a reader's behalf, and we do not accept fees for attempting either. Anyone contacting you claiming to recover losses on behalf of this site is not connected to it.
We are also not a source of trading advice. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or deposit, and the disclaimer sets that out in full.
How to test us
The fastest check available to any reader takes about two minutes. Open any analysis, find a factual claim in it, and try to trace the claim to the source we name. Then look at the unverified list and count how many important things we admit we do not know.
