Mexican medical company embraces blockchain to covid test certificates

MDS Mexico will use blockchain technology for verification of the authenticity and results of its rapid coronavirus testing.
MDS Mexico, a medical services company, has launched a rapid covid-19 test service that uses blockchain technology to verify results. According to a local media outlet iProUP News, MDS Mexico launched a digital platform that allows patients to access real-time updates to their results. The results are also delivered physically. They include a QR code that can easily be scanned to verify the results or access a patient’s vaccination history on MDS Mexico’s blockchain. MDS stated that blockchain was used to protect the results of clinical tests, protect patient data, and prevent falsification of covid test result results. MDS’s website states that it adopted blockchain to certify the SARS CoV-2 detection tests using blockchain technology and cryptographic signing. This protects the information in a unique and immutable QR Code that can easily be verified worldwide. In August, representatives from the Australian blockchain industry pushed for the creation of a blockchain-based vaccine registry in an effort to stop the spread of counterfeit COVID-19 vaccine passports online.
