Landry’s Restaurant Group will introduce a Bitcoin loyalty program

Landry’s Select Club members can earn Bitcoin-centric rewards points at 500 restaurants around the United States.
Landry’s Restaurant Group announced on Tuesday a partnership with NYDIG. This will allow diners to earn $25 worth Bitcoin for every $250 spent in the hospitality conglomerate’s restaurants. NYDIG will also be taking care of a portion Landry’s corporate treasury deposits in Bitcoin. It is well-known for its many franchises, including Morton’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and the Rainforest CafĂ©. Tillman Fertita is the billionaire TV personality who also serves as the company’s chief executive officer. Trey Zeluff, Landry’s Director for Digital Asset Strategy, stated in a statement that he views bitcoin as a good option for a portion our treasury and wants to make it available to customers as well. In partnership with NYDIG, we are proud to have pioneered this concept for hospitality. “Landry’s first signs of interest in cryptocurrency earlier this year were when it started accepting Bitcoin payments at many restaurants in April. The CEO of the company said at the time that “it’s amazing how simple [a cryptocurrency] transaction is, so it’s here to stay.” This is where it is, so it was inevitable that this would happen.”CEO Fertita has been expressing an interest in cryptocurrency in other areas of his professional life, with his NBA franchise making headlines. Tillman announced in June 2021 that he would start validating blocks for Akash Network. He also stated that it was time for him to “begin exploring mining or validating block as the next step in our digital assets strategy.” The NYDIG has also become a major player in the blockchain space. They raised hundreds of millions of dollars in 2021 in order to create Bitcoin-focused solutions in the insurance, banking, and clean energy sectors. Cointelegraph reported earlier this month that the company had purchased Bottlepay, a Bitcoin micropayments company, in the hopes of “unlocking financial infrastructure of the future.”
